Set your mind and keep it set

Colossians 3:1-3 AMP

IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [Ps. 110:1.] And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

For born again believers in Christ Jesus, we have a tremendous privilege: we received the incredible choice of setting our minds on things that are above (the rich, eternal treasure). For God’s ways are not our ways, His perfect timing is not our timing. Everything we do in Christ Jesus begins with a choice. When we make the decision of setting our minds and keeping them set on things that are above, we begin to live in a new reality. We start to live God’s reality, and it is very different to what we are used too, it’s way better! We start to see our reality through Gods’ eyes and all of sudden we start to perceive our lives differently. We become filled with peace and rejoice in every circumstance. We gain a greater hope because we will eventually realize that our worldly lives have no influence on us whatsoever. We really start to believe that for God nothing is impossible. As long as our minds are set on the things that are above, we can have the assurance that God will provide for all our needs. Keeping our minds set on Heavenly things also makes our faith grow stronger. Seeing things through God’s eyes makes us spiritually stronger, and it really makes it easier to walk in love and live patiently in peace and in joy. So let’s set our minds on God and keep them set! 💜
