John 15:3-4 amp.
You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you]. Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
Let’s be honest, not a lot of people have a real will to change and better themselves. As born again Christian, if we don’t change it means we have a real serious spiritual problem. Why? Simple, first the Word says that when we acknowledge Jesus as our Savior, repent and invite Him into our heart we become a new creature in Christ and the change is a quite instantaneous; the Holy Trinity, the Kingdom of heaven comes and resides in us and we start living through Him. Second, our who life is dedicated to change daily into the likenesses of Christ. Of course we will never humanly get there because Jesus is perfect but when we will die we will instantly be like Him. The more we resist the change, the hardest it gets and we cannot, absolutely cannot change in our own strength. The verse above clearly states no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in the Vine, neither can we bear fruit unless we abide in Him. In words, Jesus is the Vine we are the branches. If we do not abide in Jesus (live through Him and in Him) and His Word, we cannot change for His glory. Trust me I have done it all. I resisted, God I resisted. Now I see that I waisted my energy. Change, although it can be painful, is not supposed to hurt. God wants us to all have a sound mind, in peace, faith and joy! The key is always the same….surrender to Him completely having total faith that everything happening to us is for our good and for the glory of God. He likes it very much when a believers goes to Him saying “Here I am God, change me completely and use me as You will”. Make Jesus the Lord of every area of your life, talk (pray) to Him all day long. Be thankful for anything and everything He provided and pray the Word as you read it. Spend time with God every day, it really does not matter how long a time. Then realize that God uses circumstances, other people and naturally the Word (which is very much alive since the Word is Jesus; see John 1;1) to change you. In all those times stay comfortably seated in Christ, let Him fight for you as you remain at rest, look at your life with the eyes of the Holy Spirit and always be certain that what is impossible for men is possible for God. The way to check if you have godly reactions is to compare them with the Bible. Even if what you are going through seems totally impossible for the world do not be shaken and stand firm for nothing is impossible for God. You will not see major changes in you in one month! It is a process, we change just a little each day unless God has to make us ready for something quick. In the amplified version of the Bible we clearly see that the words continually and constantly are used often. Our whole life is a big changing stage. No need to panic!💜
