Hosea 2:19-20 amp.
And I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy. I will even betroth you to Me in stability and in faithfulness, and you shall know (recognize, be acquainted with, appreciate, give heed to, and cherish) the Lord.
In the world that we live today, everything is about distracting ourselves. TV, movies, books, clubs, bars, shopping centers, food, etc. I myself love my TV programs and there is nothing wrong with reading a good book. Usually the more we need distractions the less we are able to stand ourselves. We might not like what is going on inside our minds or with our emotions so we dull that by drowning our consciousness into something else. The Word of God invites us to fix our minds and keep them set on things that are above, pure, lovely, things…when we have a very hard time doing that it is because we simply distract ourselves too much or we do not have any stability into our minds or our lifes. There is a time when we need to take care of ourselves and and that is necessary. But if you are like me and you are hungry for stability in your mind and emotions, these 2 verses are worthy of a lot of meditation. Everything about the Lord is pure stability. He is the great I Am. The Alpha and Omega, there is no variation in Him at all. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Just that is awesome stability. In these 2 verses our Lord says that He will (if we want Him too of course) betroth us. The word betroth is a serious word. It a promise to marry or to give in marriage. So it is safe to say the Lord is saying He will forever be completely engaged with us as in a marriage giving us constantly as long as we shall live righteousness and justice, steadfast love, mercy, stability and faithfulness. We can hold on to that for stability in our lives. The key, the major key I keep repeating is total surrender. We have to give up holding on to our ways of thinking or feeling and choose to believe, once for all, no turning back that The Word of God is the Truth and decide to trust God exactly like little babies naturally completely trust their mommies. Like the end of the second verse says He will then cherish the Lord. Then you will have not only stability in your mind and emotions, you will finally have total peace of mind no matter what goes on in your life. And it is so worth it! 💜
